freddy,
you probably don't know me but i am related to a person that you already know. he used to live in san benito. he also has an uncle that lives in san benito. i am related to that person and he is the father of my father. that person took a picture of you along with his wife. that person that you grew up is my grandfather and his name is gregorio huerta. my name is david huerta and i am his grandson. i know that you are in san antonio right now battling diabetes. your niece, magarita, was here at the cinco de mayo last weekend. i wanted to meet her for the first time but i didn't get a chance to go see her. i hope that you feel better and get well soon. my prayers go out to you and your family.

i don't know what to call you,
david huerta

Hi! My name is Isobelle Louise P. Mahimer. I like to check
the website of Menudo and Ricky Martin's concert here Hawaii.
I've seen the Behind Music of Ricky Martin. The Menudo performed
and made a video here in Hawaii. It seem they did a good job what
they are doing.
Well! I hope to hear from you.

Freddy,
Met you in Decatur, Illinois when you played with Jerry Lee Lewis. While we were in the Lounge, you were so kind to invite our group to your table, you were very hospitable.
Just a couple of years ago you while performing at Laughlin, my sister asked you to call my mother, who has always been a great fan of yours, and to here surprise, you called. Freddy, my mother is now 91 years old and is very concerned about you. She is praying for you and hopes that everything will be OK. I was in the audience in Indio this past spring at the Date Festival - I thoroughly enjoyed your concert and I too hope that you are feeling better.

Hey, Freddy! I just dropped by to say "hola" and wish you and your the very best. I am always so very proud to brag about being in the right place at the right time when we recorded "Wasted Days" and Dryl Norris couldn't make the session so I got to play drums on the song. Say.... do you remember that July 4th gig in Poteau, Oklahoma waaaaay back in '76 ("Wolf Mountain Weekend") ???? WOW! We flew you in to the backstage area in a chopper! HAHAHAHA! How did we all live through THAT one!?? Come by my site anytime, old friend. God Bless..........

Hey Freddie ....

It's Joe Anderson ... former guitarist with Sound Add-Vice - remember the Sunday afternoons at The Holiday Inn on North Padre. I heard from Wes Searcy (Bob's bro) that something was up. I checked out the postings here and ... well >>>
I'm wishing you a speedy recovery. I had some surgery last year ... so I know the drill. Hang tuff.

I've been living in San Diego since 1998 ... missed you a couple of times when you were in the area. Hope we can hook up the next time you get out here.

Take care ...

Freddy,
Im just signing this for my mother "Maria Soccoro Mesa". I have heard many stories about you and my Tio Charlio Mesa growing up as childern down in the Vally. You were here some time ago in Minnesota and my mother asked the security gaurd if she could go back ask say hello. You told the gaurd to bring her back ASAP. You don't know how much she has appreciated you taking the time to talk to her about the good ol' days and dedicating almost every song to her. I myself need to tell you THANK YOU. She is not doing to well these days. She has gone blind due to Diabetis and now all she has is your memories of the good ol days. As for my Tio Charlio Mesa, I regretfully have to say he has past away this past Dec. 27,2000. He will be missed as I know you will miss him also. You will be in my prayers and I wish for you to get well soon.. I wish I would have had the pleasure of meeting you and sing a song together for my mother. If that was to happen... heck.. I dont know what I would do. But I will keep sing Karaoke of your music to her , as this makes her smile. Get well soon from my mother 'Maria Soccoro' and myself and you will be in our prayers. God Bless.

DEAR FREDDY: Yesterday we drove 7 hrs from Gainesville to Homestead Fl. to have the opportunity to see you in concert. The opening act came on almost an hour late due to technical difficulties ( so they said ) but we waited patiently for you to take the stage. You can imagine what happened when they announced that you had taken ill and would not be appearing. The audience was devistated. You see it was not for the music but for you the man. We immediately offered up some prayers for your recovery. I know that your family is preoccupied with caring for you, but if there is someone who could let us know how you are doing it would greatly be appreciated. We only have access to this site in most cases for any update. Personal to Freddy, you should know that from the crowds reaction that you are loved and cared about greatly. All you fans and friends are wishing you only the best. You are loved by many. Please keep fighting, you are in our prayers. Always Barbara Ann

HI, it's me again. I was just able to secure tickets to your concert Saturday night in Homestead, Fl. It is going to take some fancy footwork to get there but I am determined. It is a 7 hour ride and I have to work Sat. Morning We will be pushing it to get there in time to see you take the stage. Wish me luck. I hope to see you at the post concert party. I could not believe that you are actually going to be close enough for me to see you. I recently ordered several of your CDs and cassettes I cant wait for them to arrive. I love to listen to you sing just about anything but I especially enjoy when you sing in Spanish it has sparked my interest in relearning the language. I probably understand more than I can speak but I hope to be able to speak fluently in just a matter of time. I hope this message finds you feeling well. My prayers are with you. Keep fighting. Freddy, I hope you are doing well. Are you going to be on any TV shows in the near future?? I always think of you being on the Nash Bridges Show or David Letterman. Also, we have been talking about a song that has a lyric; "Take a letter, Maria, address it to my wife, say; I won't be coming home, got to start a new life" I know I heard you sing that song before but someone here at work said it was Tony Orlando. I know he sang he song, too. Did you write it? What is the title? Is it on any of your albums? I looked through them on the site but did not see a title that I thought fit the song. If someone gives replies, I hope I receive one. Best of luck to you.

I got to see you for the first time at the Emerald Queen Friday night. I was seated very close to the stage, so I was able to get the full effect of your mesmerizing performanace. You have so much magnetism and charisma and I am more of a fan than I ever was before. I was so moved by the passion you express in your music. It is so good to hear an entertainer who sings with so much feeling and is able to convey that to the audience. The look in your eyes was of a person who has overcome many defeats and won many victories. You are an inspiration and I will never forget your show and how you so captivated me. Freddy,
I wanted to thank you again for being generous for a pic. I'm pretty sure I said
Vangie's name right but if I didn't I'm sorry. As for the show "SUAVE", Abe always keeps your legacy alive for people by playing your videos
every couple weeks and the interview every couple months that you gave us 2 yrs ago. Our prayers and love are with you and hope that you stay strong and get well.
Not only we want you to but the fans as well. Last night's concert at the Emerald Queen Casino was absolutely fantastic. Hopefully you might be able to get one of these
electric and vibrant performances on CD or Video or DVD. I talked to alot of people last night and they would love to see a concert like that imortalized on a digital disc.
Like I said before thank you for all you have done. I will never forget how kind and patient you were and that I got to meet a wonderful legend twice..

Hi Freddy! I was raised on your music in the 70's and loved it. You have a voice straight from the heavens! My daughter recently asked, "who's Freddy Fender?" when I requested one of your cd's for Christmas. She found it for me & I play it every nite while I'm on the computer. (She's hooked on your music now too!)
I was hoping you would be coming to Canada soon so I could take her to your concert. Then I was so saddened to hear of what you are going through with your illness. Hang tough though! You are dearly loved by all your fans.
You keep a positive attitude, we'll keep the prayer chain going & sooner than you think, my daughter and I will be sitting in front row center listening to your beautiful voice!!! It will happen... my husband was on his death bed 2 1/2 yrs. ago....but with POSITIVE THINKING and constant prayers, he's back with us, healthy and strong again.
Feel our Love and Best Wishes for you, and strength for your loving family.
Waiting patiently & praying daily in Canada for you,

You were our first show at Hon-Dah Casino in AZ, I don't think you ever knew we were still hanging cans an hour before the show, the only gels we had were purple, as a result YOU were purple all night. Hope you didn't think we planned that. Anyway, you were a perfect gentleman about it, great show. Hi Freddy,
My wife asked me to read this articl in the "Ledger" (Lakeland, Florida) titled "Fender Accepts Fate of Hepatitis C" by John Tedesco of the San Antonnio Express News.
My wife has much in common with you. After my wife recuperated from a five hour sleep appnea operation, we went to Portugal for a holiday. Upon return came to our winter home in Florida. Not long after this my wife became ill. After a few days a doctor suggested a possible serious liver problem. Our insurance provider ordered my wife fly home the next (Peterborough, Ontario).
It took months to find out she had Hepatitis Auto Immune which they say was probably in the system and surfaced after extensive anesthetics. Although a none drinker she has acquired Chronic Hepatitis and is stuck with a half a dozen pills daily. After reading your plight she is fortunate.
In closing I wish you well with your battle.

Hi! Balde,

Do you remember me??? Samuel Valdez's daughter Juanita. My son was asking all about you because he read the newspaper about you. I told him that the last time I saw you, we were on our way to New Mexico in the back of my Uncle Carlos's truck to work the onion fields. I remember getting very car sick and you giving me Juicy Fruit Gum and you told me that it would help me with the car sickness. I also remember all the songs that you sang while we worked to cheer us up. What I really wanted to say, is that I am sorry that I never stayed in touch with you and that I wanted to say that you have always been in my thoughts and I pray that you will get well soon. Please let me hear from you.

My wife and I have enjoyed U and your music over the years. It is rather ironic I was in New Hampshire last year and had not thought of your music in a long time. My friend has a cousin that is a Vice President at a bank. We went to A Red Sox game and we were talking about country music and blues. Low and behold I mentioned your name and said I have heard nothing in years and he came to a party that I was attending and he said U like Fender look in my duffle bag and he had cd's galore , Fender. He told me to take the one I wanted. Needless to say it has Wasted Days, and Wasted Nights, Till the Next Teardrop falls, etc. My wife has spent 8 hours of listening to the same cd today. You have had one hell of a career and brought a great deal of enjoyment to a world of people!!!!!!!!!!! May GOD bless

Hi Freddy,
I read the article that was in my newspaper today (1-29-2001) about your struggle with Hep C. I was diagnosed with Hep C about 4 years ago and have been down the interferon road also trying to get rid of it. I picked up Hep C from numerous blood transfusions due to a vehicle accident in 1985. I know what you are going thru with Hep C - the current treatments make you sicker just trying to get well (just like chemotherapy for cancer). I remember very well your music contributions to us all, keep on playing that guitar of yours and sing. I would like to hear how you are doing with your recovery in the future if you could e-mail me and stay in touch.
Thank you,
Dave

Freddy my Man,
Hope your feeling well.I live in Midland and have always enjoyed your music. I worked at an Exxon in 1972 (I believe)
and filled your bus up with gas about 3:00 am in the morning.Seem's like you were headed to another show. Sorry to hear about your kids and liv. Im going through the same deal with looking for a liver transplant because of Hepatitis C. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and it's starting to catch with me. I have no idea where I could have gotton it from, but the doctor told me I could have had it since high school. You think there's there's any relation between
hep. C and Bad Gas at Exxon? (Just Kidding) Anyway, I'll keep you in my prayers and get down on your jams.
Keep Your Chin Up and your Tunes Coming Out. Thanks, Kelly

Freddy, may God send you your renewed health soon. You've brought happiness to so many people, surely that counts for something, right? My Dad was one of your biggest fans, and for one of their last wedding anniversary together, I gave my folks tickets to your concert in Merriville, IN. Well you think I would have given him tickets to Hawaii, he was thrilled and they truly enjoyed your show. They managed to get your autograph and my Dad shared with you that they were from Pharr, TX. He was so happy and I thank you for giving that beautiful memory to my Dad who passed away only two months after he saw you in concert. I became one of your fans mostly due to my Dad's love of country music and I had the pleasure of seeing you with the Texas Tornadoes when you performed at the Cubby Bear here in Chi-town. Thanks for the memories y que Dios te bendiga Freddy.

Dear Freddy.
We are so sorry to heare about your illness. We wish you all the best and pray for your speedy recovery. Your songs are a bigger part of our musical life. When we have our nice cosy "staying home" evenings your voice fills the atmosphere with joy and romance. From "Entering Our Hearts" to the very "Last Teardrop" we realy are "Leaving It All Up To You" before we are swept away on "Silver Wings".
We have plans to visite friends in San Antonio & Corpus Cristi this summer. Hopefully you will be out of hospital and back on the stage by then. If luck is on our side you might even be performimg in Texas. If so we will be first in line to see and hear you. Our greatest wish for the future. Anyway you can be sure that you will always be in our hearts and mind as one of the VERY BEST country singers ever. We wish you all God's Blessing with your surgery and
you will be in al our prayers.

DEAREST FREDDY I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR YOU ARE ILL. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. I CANT BELIEVE THAT YOU JUST CAME INTO MY LIFE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I ALWAYS LIKED YOUR MUSIC BUT WAS NEVER REALLY A FAN. I DONT KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED BUT RECENTLY I WAS INTRODUCED TO AN ALBUM BY THE TEXAS TORNADOS AND TO MY SURPRISE YOUR INCREDIBLE VOICE REACHED OUT AND TOUCHED MY HEART. THE SONG WAS "IF THATS WHAT YOUR THINKING" IT JUST MADE ME CRY. ANYONE THAT HAS THAT POWER TO MAKE YOU CRY OR SMILE BECAUSE OF THE WAY A SONG WAS DELIVERED IS AN ANGEL ON EARTH FOR ME. YOU ARE MY ANGEL. I WISH I COULD BE YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES IN YOUR LIFE. KNOW THAT THERE ARE ANGELS THAT ARE WATCHING OVER YOU AND WILL PROTECT YOU. THERE ARE TO MANY SONGS TO BE SUNG AND TOO MANY SMILES YOUR FANS NEED TO GIVE YOU. THANK YOU FOR BEING. ALL MY LOVE AND BEST WISHES ARE WITH YOU. SPEEDY RECOVERY MI AMORE.

Freddy, Ilived in San Benito in the late 50's moved from Galveston to live with my grandparents there. You use to hang around with my uncles. I moved to Houston in 1961 and have been here ever since. I remember you well. I remember seeing you in Galveston, Houston, and the Pasadena Rodeo. I know your brother Mel. He used to call your mom from my home quite often. He called me to let me know when she passed on. When I found out you were ill I immediately called my uncles some who remained in San Benito some have moved to California. Our prayers are with you. I sing a little bit now and then. The favorite that is requested from me is "Before The Next Teardrops Falls". I could never do the song justice. You mean so much to your fans here in Houston, Texas. I hope to see you perform again soon. Take it easy so my dream will come true to see you again. We love you The Morehead Family. God Bless You.

I would like for you to know just how disappionted we where in the cancellation of your show at Houston. My friend April's father was killed years and years ago. The only tape recording he had ever given her was of you. She listened to it over and over again through out her youth. Last night she had hoped to see you live,a sentimental, musical reconnection with her past. You broke her heart when you cancelled. Will you be there before the next tear drop falls?

I recently read about your illness. Hope you are responding well and on the road to recovery. As a Beaumont boy and old musician myself (way back when Mr. Meaux ruled) I have always been a fan and admirer. In fact I even put a Tex-Mex tune called "That's So 1999" on our most recent CD. I still listen to you often and by the way there ain't been nobody yet that has nailed "Once I Had A Secret Love" the way you did! Keep the faith and get well soon...

Dearest Freddy
My sister and I caught your show last friday 12/01 in Reno, at the Peppermill, and as usual you were great! My heart broke when you announced your illness, I could actually feel what you were feeling, I know cause I've been where your at now, yep for 20 years now, I stared dailysis right after my daughter was born in 1980, she'll be 21 in March. I just wanted you to know that life doesn't have to end, just think of this as a bump in the road and you will get past it. When did you start dailysis? I hope it is going well for you. I know how it just drains you, and takes alot out of you. So I hope you get to see this, it would mean alot to me to hear back from you..
Thanks for the great music.
Take care of yourself and keep your chin up...SMILES@FF

I felt really sad when I heard about your condition. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
You may not remember this, but I have a small memory of this one evening you came over to my parents house. I couldn't have been more than four years old. You and my father were friends. I remember the two of you singing and playing the piano. My little sister and I danced around the two of you. I'm glad I have that small memory and I want to thank you for that.
Good luck.

Dear Freddy,

I just want to add my words of encouragement and my prayers for you. You have provided me with many exciting moments in music from the first time I heard Before the Next Teardrop Falls (and wish I had a dollar for every time I played it as a DJ back then,) to hearing you sing Secret Love at the DJ Convention, to all the other times I saw you in the "early days" - then when I worked for John Penny, and he often backed you up on shows in the Northeast, to that awesome night when the Tornados played at Johnny D's. You were so close to the edge of the stage I thought you would fall off, your singing was so intense, and people were screaming right in your face. I read your comments the other day, where you said if you had to make it on your looks, you would never have made it. Well, a lot of us think you're pretty cute!! You're a real treasure, you're one of a kind, and my friends and I are wishing you all the best.

in Herman Park some years ago the Tarnado's had just finish
tearing up the stage with the music that came to be the battle cry for any Taxan to hear HEY BABY QUE PASO` when it was over there was this white horse coming over the hill there from the back headed toward the stage and everybody thought it was part of the show when the horse reached the stage he was announced (by this time the whole hill was headed out to the parking lot ready to leave including myself) so I'm walking and everybody is talking about how great the show was....WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEARD lady's and gentleman would you please welcome this up and coming singer MR.ALAN JACKSON the guys I was with said yea but he ain't no FREDDY FENDER !!!!!!! true story

Dear Freddy, I saw you at two of your concerts this year, one in Costa Mesa and one in Escondido with my Aunt Kathy Silva. She is totally in LOVE with you. I've always known who you were because my parents would listen to you when I was smaller but was never really into your music till my Aunt asked me to take her to your concert. I really enjoyed it. We sat there and danced in our seats, clapped, laughed, and even cried a little. I'm only 25 but some of your songs brought back memories for me too. You sure hear that alot dont you? Well, now I've been a fan for about 4 months but my Aunt Kathy has been for 26 years. She has all your tapes and cd's. Everybody knows she loves you and we call her Mrs. Fender. She has written you alot of letter's but has never gotten a response. Maybe as a surprise you can E-mail her at my address and I'll show it to her. Could you please do that for me? Even the shortest message would really make her happy. Keep up the good work in making so many memories for people and keeping them happy.

Hola Freddy,
Ever since I was a toddler, I remember listening to your music on my Dad's booming 8-track system. Man, those were the days! Unfortunately, my Dad's 8-track died but your songs remained memorably in our household. But,with the advent of the CD, I now have your collection of Greatest Hits.

Gracias por tu musica,

Dear Freddy,
My dad says that you recorded a song on a movie soundtrack a few years ago about illegal Mexican immigrants. He believes the movie was titled "Across the Border Line" or something similar. He says the song you performed was one of the nicest songs he's ever heard and would very much like a copy if you could tell us how to get one. I've searched on the internet, including your website, but I can't find anything. Any info you could give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great music and we look forward to seeing you in concert soon.

Dear Freddy Fender
I wanted to thank you, thank you and again thank you for the joy and the entertainment you broght into my life. Whenever I feel down and worn out, I put up one of your records. There was not one incident I can think of your music has not brought me up again. Additionally, I wanted to tell you that my birthday is also June the 4th; maybe that is one of the more mystical connections I have to you and your music. Although I do not really speak and understand Spanish, I sometimes got the feeling that I exactly perceive what you express in those songs. One of theses examples is "El Cielito Lindo". Thank you Freddy !!!

Freddie,

I'm 30 years old and I guess I've been what you call a "closet" fan. My memories of your music are intertwined with the memories of my own father. He passed away when I was a teenager & unfortunately it was at a time in my life that my dad wasn't "cool". Of course now I regret not being closer to him, butI do have the memories of when I was a kid and idolized him. Many of these memories include your music - yours were songs I remember singing with my dad in his car. When I downloaded your songs, the words came to me as though I just went for a ride with my dad yesterday. Thank you for the memories...

Freddy, My future mother in law has been a HUGE fan of yours for many years. She is a wonderful person. Her name is Corina. I don't have a mother, but I care for her as a mother. Years ago, she was married to an extremely abusive man who was insanely jealous. When he saw her watching you on tv or listening to you on the radio, he would go into horrible rages and accuse her of having an affair with you. "Mom" is a very honest, humble, God fearing woman. She raised 4 kids by herself. She is going to be 57 or 58 on October 21st. I see on your calendar you will be in Vegas then. As a late birthday present to "Mom" , our familia would very much appreciate it if you would be so kind as to make a suprise visit when you come back to Tejas the first part of November. PLEASE, Freddy, to this day, this is the one thing she wants more than anything is to meet you . Will you, or will you have someone email me back and let me know if this is possible? I, too, grew up listening to you. You are GREAT. May the good Lord continue to bless you.

Freddy,

I have a question that you would be the best person to answer, i have in my vague and distant memory of hearing a tape that I seem to remember was recorded by you in studio 1 in Kingston, you were doing some of your hits but with a ska / reggae back beat, I heard the tape in 1985, I have no idea how old it was at the time, and since I was reminded of it the other week I have been trying to find out two things, 1, Is the tape a figment of my imagination, 2, If it did exist and was you did it ever come out as, or as part of an album? Over to you for any help on this one, although I have addressed this to Freddie anyone with any anwers would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Hey, Freddy !!

I found this site surfing along one night. It reminded me of the "old days" with Micky and Huey at Ben Jack's in Ft. Smith. I'll never forget when Mickey called me and asked if I had heard myself play on a #1 record before. That was in February '75 when "Wasted Days" hit the top of the Billboard Charts. We cut the tracks without you present and I wasn't even aware what song I was playing on at the time. It was just
"another drum track" for me. Boy was I surprised! Then, our paths crossed again a year later when you headlined "Wolf Mountain Weekend" in Poteau, Oklahoma over the July 4th holiday. I was stage manager for the concert and you made a big deal and brought me out on stage to introduce me to the crowd. What a gas! "Se es grande conociéndole, mi amigo. Me honran para haber jugado los tambores en un
expediente tan grande para usted."

Freddy, I was excited when I heard that you were going to be at the Petaluma Fair. I brought my 3 and 5 year old girls with me and they had a blast. My wife and suegra wanted to come but couldn't make it. I talked with the gentleman at the merchandise table about "How much is that Doggie..." and he sent me an autographed tape the following week! Thank you! I love it! Is there more that one version of that song? I recalled the line: "I love that girl in California.." amd in the version on the tape it goes: "I must take a trip to California, etc" Just wondering...Anyhow, thanks so much for all of the years of music and having such a great attitude.

Freddy will be appearing on Corpus Christi PBS station (channel 16) KEDT's show "Freddy Fender Live" on Tuesday, June 27th, airing at 7:00pm and running again at 9:30pm. It's part of a week long fund-raising effort for the station, to which Freddy is generously donating his time and talent. Call in a pledge and help support public broadcasting, whether in Corpus Christi or in your own local area. No, I'm not an employee of KEDT, just a supporter of PBS, and an admirer of a good musician and all around nice guy :) .... great website, by the way!

message goes out to Michael, the 15 year old who wrote the 3 messages below. Looks like you need some practice on the keyboard, pal, your message was posted 3 times in a row. Anyway, I too was on that flight with Freddy Fender from Houston to Portland, OR. I joined it in Albuquerque. I remember you on the flight. At the time I saw you talking with Freddy I knew that you were not aware who he was and most people on the flight had no idea. In fact, I spoke with him for a long time before I found out. He is a very nice guy, as you found out. Very humble and down to earth. You are correct about June 27th. Freddy said he will appear on a TV show on PBS but I do not know the name of the show. I too have asked if there was more info on this but so far I have not heard back from whoever responds to these messages. I notice you live in Plano, TX. That's where my parents live (small world). All of us have one thing in common: Freddy Fender Fans !!!

Hi Freddy:

I too was sitting next to you on the flight from Houston to Portland, remember? I'm only 15, so to be truthful, I really didn't know who you were the entire time (mostly because we never asked each other's names) but it was really cool to talk to you not knowing your such a star. I hope your Lincoln City gig was good. Thanks for the food on that long flight. :) I remember you saying that your going to be on TV on the 27th or something, but I wasn't sure that I heard you right. If you ever get a chance to read this before then, could you post a reply just in the guestbook? I don't have e-mail at the moment and I'm sure a bunch more people who read the guestbook would be interested in it too. Thanks a lot.

dear freddy, i don't know if you'll remember me or not. i used to work at the car wash in branson, mo. and i was the only one you would let drive your classic car. i was a single mother of 2 teenagers working for minimum wage. you once told me that you admired me because i was working so hard to take care of my family and that you kept me in your prayers every night. well, i just wanted you to know that both my children are happy well-adjusted adults. i have married a very wonderful man and now live in delaware. i no
longer work for min. wage. i manage a small restaurant and my husband & i have enough to enjoy ourselves. thank you for your kind words and prayers-they often kept me afloat when i thought i couldn't make it. god bless and keep you.

Hi Freddy! I have been a fan since I was a kid. You were the very first performer I ever seen in concert. I was about 8 or 9 and my dad took me to see you along with Marty Robbins here in San Diego. My dad loved your music so much. I wish he were still alive, I would have loved to have taken my dad to see you perform today. You are still the same vibrant performer you were 20 some years ago!! I try to see you whenever you are in San Diego! Your music brings back so many great memories!

Hi Freddie;

I was the guy who sat next to you on the plane when you were traveling from Houston to Albuquerque then on to Salt Lake City and finally to Portland, Oregon. We had a nice conversation and I did not even know who you were until I asked you what the name of your band was and you said "I'm Freddy Fender". You were going to play at a casino near Lincoln City. I hope it went well for you. I want you to know it was a great thrill to meet and talk with you. I have always enjoyed Tex-Mex music. Hi!
My name is Linda. I was very fortunate to be in the front row of Mr. Fenders concert last night.
Mr. Chale Rich Jr. gave my husband
Larry (who works at the casino and helped the band) this email address.

The concert was the greatest. I have been a fan for many years and totally enjoyed myself. The terrific performance by Freddy Fender, Charlie Rich Jr. and the rest of the band was great!!!!!!!!
The music brought back alot of great memories for both me and my sister-in-law (who attended with me).
My sister-in-law saw Mr. Fender about 25 years ago when he was in Saskatchewan. She to was melted by his voice and songs.

We would just like to thank Mr. Fender and all the band for the terrific performance and the opportunity to see him perform.

We were somewhat disappointed that they didn't have any picture. If it is at all possible would I be able to get an autographed picture of both Freddie and Charlie
for myself and my sister-in-law Smiley(that's her nickname and she sure lived up to it last night)

Well I won't keep you any longer thank-you for your time.

hi-glad to see that this book is back in business--just wanted to say---great, fun show at mohegan sun in connecticut! we really liked cowboy cumbia, and the r&b stuff. a funny story to relate--while you were doing the old favorites-wasted days and wasted nights, all of a sudden i heard my husband on the cell phone. he was calling his family in new york city. they all remembered that and before the next teardrop falls from when they came out as hits in the dominican republic. they could actually make out the song thru the cell phone, too! hope that you can come back to the northeast soon--all the best

Mr. Fender,

I dont know if you will see this, but here it is:
My grandparents 50th wedding anniversary is coming. My grandmother is the biggest Freddy Fender fan.

I was wondering if there was any way to have Mr. Fender sign a card for them or something. It would mean the world to my grandmother. And I am not lying when I say she would probably break down in tears if she was to receive something from Mr. Fender.

Freddy, you're one of my heroes! My late mother was crazy about you. I was based in Reno, Nv, for quite a few years, working the Nevada circuit with my former band, The Beau Brummels (they had top-ten hit songs in the 60's - "Laugh Laugh" and "Just A Little", in case anyone remembers - I spent nearly 20 years gigging with them). I brought my mother down to visit just a month before she died, and she got to see you sing "Teardrop" live - a magic moment for both of us. I saw you twice at The Nugget Showroom, once at a Sparks outdoor show, and the most memorable one of all was when I drove down to see The Tornadoes at The San Joaquin County Fair in Stockton, Ca. People were going wild in the aisles - the guards couldn't make 'em sit down - it was a helluva spectacle! One of the most memorable concerts I've ever been to. You were killin' them!!
I see you're playing in Laughlin next month. Wonder if you've ever been there before. The Beau Brummels did a couple of weeks at The Ramada there in '94. Bullhead City right across the river - it was hotter than hell's pancakes! Went down and saw the reconstructed London Bridge (Lake Havasau?), which isn't too far down the road. Have fun! Of course, you grew up in that kind of heat, and I came out of San Francisco.
I'm singing in The Philippines these days to a bunch of ex-pats who, of course, love your music. I learned a long time ago how to sing "Teardrop", singing the Spanish phonetically. What I would really like to do is learn The Spanish lyrics to "Secret Love" and "The Wild Side Of Life" (I'm too proud to fake it. I'll only do it if I'm sure what the words are - I'll do it right, or I won't do it at all!).
If I ever get back to The States, I'll look forward to seeing you in concert once again. Keep playin' it like it is, brother!!!!!!!!!!! John

Dear Freddy,
I hope you had time to read the note from my Grandmother, Nora. I am sure she will enjoy the picture you autographed for her. My grandmother has been a big fan of yours since I was a little kid. When we visit her she always has music going and you are one of her top choices. She is still telling people about the time you called her. This is one of her fondest memories. Thank you for helping her celebrate her 90th birthday.

Freddy,

I have been a fan of yours for many years. I am now a Hispanic country artist here in Austin, TX. Although I am not "known" yet, I soon will be(I just had my most recent demo played on KVET radio morning show "Sam and Bob", here in Austin).
I am trying to find a really good "Freddy Fender" song that has not yet been recorded. I and wonder if there were any songs you had that a female artist could record. I already have an upbeat (Friday night Blues remake) and a slow ("Empty Arms") song produced, but I need once last, fast country song. I would love to have a Tex-Mex type song and thought, what could it hurt to send a quick e-mail. Please let me know if you have something you would be willing to send. I hope someday to be the female "Freddy Fender" as there are currently no Female Hispanic Country Artists. Thank you so much.

Hi Freddy, I had the distinct pleasure to be your personal
bodyguard at the Golden Eagle Casino a couple of years ago, and thought I would take the time to thank you and Augie Meyers for your autographs, and for taking the time to talk to myself and my Security Chief like we were somebody, and not like nobody's. I will always cherish that fact, and will tell all how nice a guy you really are.
Your autograph is in a frame in my living room for all to see, and when I tell them of your kindness and love of your music and of your fans, they're amazed. Your fire and style are without bounds, race, creed,or type of music.
thank you Freddie

I grew up listening to your music. I was in a bar last night
with a younger crowd than myself and one of your songs played
and everyone knew it. I was amazed to see kids of 21 with
green hair singing Before The Next Teardrop Falls. This is
the sign of true talent and a generation that recognizes it.
You have reached beyond the listeners of country and pop
and reached a new generation of fans. That's what real talent
does. I realize you have had recent success also but, the
classics is what we are all tipping a cold one to and
singing every song note for note. You have an amazing
voice and I wish I could come close but I am a lowly
drummer and all I can do is admire your talent. I hope
you come to my area soon! Keep blessing us with your gift.

Hey Freedy, i just got ur cassete of "The Best of Freddy Fender", its not a remastered or new cassete, its the original from 1970's, the copyriths reads 1977,76,75,74 copyright 1979 Mca Records.
Anyhow my mom pulled it out and said, here u can hear it if u want, i was "nope, i prefer my music", she said "trust me this is music, music that is still here...", so i played it and BAM, out of nowhere i was into it, i like those songs, i never knew who sang them, until yesterday. My favorites are:side 1: 1,2,4,5 , side 2:1,3,5,6, i enjoy the rest also. By the way , im 18yrs. old, so u reached me in music beats.Hey write me anytime in email , my mom will just go wild and i will drop.

Hi Freddy, long time no see, you might not remember me anyway, I played some with you in San Antonio, also I was the steel player in the band in Germany in the late 70's. I really enjoyed playing with you, when it was my time for a ride in the song you always turned and said to me,'' TELL IT LIKE IT IS, LITTLE BROTHER",things like that makes a musician feel important or needed which lots of singers or stars never accknowledges the musicians, Ill never forget you for that, Freddy. I think your webb is great, just like your singing, Keep it up, and if ever you need a steel player, you have my email, Best of luck to you, Kenny

Tio Balde,
As you know we grew up listening to your music. My dad, Vico and my mom, would always play it and tell us all about you. When I was younger I didn't really understand the impact that you made on people and the positive role model that you play for chicanos everywhere. Now that I'm older I can more easily recognize the "orgullo" in my dad's voice when he told us about you. I took both mom and dad to see you and Mague in San Benito. What a show. Te aventaste! Either way, I just want you to know that I'm so proud of all of your accomplishments. Y siguele!

Sinceramente,

Dear Mr. Fender,

How are you doing this evening? It broke my heart to hear the news about Mr. Sahm, my condolences and many prayers to his family and the TEXAS TORNADOS. This 18 will be a year since your song made my girl cry. We were coming from night at the ballet, we saw the nutcraker. I had the whole evening planned out. She looked so beautiful with her long black evening dress, and my self all slicked. I even rented a limo to take us to the theatre and take us home. Our relationship had been on the rocks for almost a month. We had been together for 2 years and I wanted to tell her how I've always felt about her. But like I said we were on the edge. I felt that she was losing faith in me and had ask If she would be happy with someone else? She just got upset that I had asked her that. So of course that night was on the rocks as well. I wanted to tell her what my heart was feeling but couldnt finds the words. Until, a particular song came to my head. A song I came to love and known by heart. So, as we walked silently back to the limo, I stopped and began singing her "Teardrop". I don't know why, I just did. She stood there stunded and after I was done, she started crying. I loved her the day I first saw her and had opened the door for her, because I had accidently hit with the door at her moms work. (whole other story) As she stood there with the tears in her eyes, I looked at her and told her "Mel, you mean every thing to me, I consider my self lucky, Not everyone gets to see their gaurdian ANGEL. You are the closet to heaven I ever be, I love you Melody, before and always." For some reason that song will always be a reminder of my love that I still have within my heart for her. I miss her so bad, it hurts. She chahged my world, the day she looked into my eyes.
God bless you Freddy, and to Doug, and the TEXAS TORNADOS:Music for the heart and soul.

Thank you, Mr.Fender

Grammy Award winners The Texas Tornados scheduled to close Latin Style Music
Awards

Nashville, TN (October 6, 1999)"Hailed by the press as "the greatest Tex-Mex
band in all the world," the Texas Tornados will perform "South of the Border"
as the grand finale, for the Latin Style Music Awards in Los Angeles, California.
The show is being taped from the Shrine Auditorium for syndicated telecast in
mid-November.
The Texas Tornados, Grammy Award winners, began one late winter evening in San
Francisco at a concert performance put on by a mutual friend. Billed as the
"Tex-Mex Revue," Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers, and Doug Sahm were
invited separately to perform. What transpired was so intense, that the four
already-legendary musicians felt compelled to repeat the experience. Each of
them a multi-instrumentalist in his own right, and aided by a crack four piece
rhythm section; began making records and started touring as "The Texas Tornados".
Now after nine years and five studio albums, they have released their long awaited
live recording on the Barbwire/Virgin Records label. Entitled "Live From The
Limo, Vol. I", it epitomizes the very essence of the band and captures the magic
first created long ago in the city by the bay.

Freddy -- My husband and I saw you last December in Austin, TX when y'all recorded "Live from the Limo". We loved the show so much Friday, that we went back for more on Saturday night. We were fortunate to get a chance to meet you and the whole Texas Tornados family. When I heard the radio anouncer say this from the new Texas Tornados recorded live at Antone's I blasted the radio to "one" of my favorites Hey baby que paso? I called my husband immediately and told him that we were on the radio. He said what do you mean?? I said rememeber they recorded us singing along on the song. That weekend we were at Antone's record store. Everytime I listen to the CD it is like revisiting those two wonderful nights. When is vol 2 comming???? We want to hear the rest of those wonderful songs y'all recorded those two nights. from your friends and live long fans from Corpus. PS. I love your music.

Mr. Fender,
I have grown up listening and dancing to your music. Your music was one of the few songs my parents liked us to listen to on our own. Iremember at Christmas by my Godmothers house we would have the 8-track player cranked up and all the woman and girls were in the kitchen making tamales and when that was done we would go into thr front room and dance.
Now that I'm a mom my children and I listen to your old music and your new recordings with the Texas Tornados. My oldest daughters favorite song is "Hey baby que paso."
My husband look me to see you and the Tornados at Navy Pier in Chicago. We went and had a very good time. That was me husband first time seeing you in concert, but I had seen you once before and I had the time-of-my-life.
Thank you for the wonderful memories and all the new ones to come with my children.

Hi Freddy! Our best friend on the planet, Jose Martinez, or as we call him, JOE, is in Colorado Springs and he went to the very high school you did! He is from Harlingen, TX too! He could pass for your twin! :) He handed you a song on stage back in 1994 when you & The Texas Tornadoes played in Pueblo, CO We are all huge fans of yours. Is there any way you could send us all 8X10s of you? It sure would make our day! His birthday is coming up, and he'd NEVER be expecting something like this! My birthday was Sept. 4th :) We look forward to seeing you at Billy Bobs!

Mr. Fender,
As a true fan of yours for many years, my wife and I would love for you to schedule a date here in Atlanta, Georgia. With the Latino population at an all time high here in Atlanta, your fan base is growing rapidly day by day. Please consider scheduling a date here in Atlanta, in the near future. There are several venues to consider with such a big city.
Thank you.

Mr. Fender,
Years ago, while you were in Louisiana, you recorded a song
called "Three Wishes" with my Father, Mike Hailey, playing
the drums. I was wondering if there were any copies of this
single available anywhere. My daughter want's to know more
about her Grandfather and I thought that hearing this song
would give her a connection to him. She very much enjoys it
when I play your albums and dances around the house to all
of your songs. If you know where I can find this song please
write back. It would be very apreciated if you did.
Thank You Very Much,
Michael Hailey

I must have been born Tex-Mex in another life. Got turned
on to your kinda music via the Texas Tornados and Flaco's CD's.
The new Tornados live album cooks, and I enjoy your singing
the most. Next time you're in the SF Bay Area, stop in at
Down Home Music in El Cerrito (near Berkeley)--everyone there
is a huge fan of yours and everything Tex Mex. My wife Jane
joins me in wishing you and your family all the best. My kids
are always jokin that Dad never listens to anything but
Texican accordion music in the car--hey gotta raise em right.

Hi Mr Fender, Goodday from the northern territory in australia, where the weathers dry for 6 months of the year and wet for the other 6mths. Been a top fan of yours since ever i can remember , you were suppose to come out to aussie 1995,but shows were cancelled, when do you think you will be down under this way. You have a big mob of followers over here. Especially with the aboriginals, they like country and blues and they sure know how to put on a barbie and party till you drop. I'm originally from NSW which is on the East coast of Australia, when you were booked to play it was at Shellharbour workers club and Sawtell RSL club, either way I was making sure I was'nt going to miss out on seeing you, I was going to fly down from nt for a once in a lifetime to meet my idol, but then everything was cancelled and we never heard anything more. So will you ever make a trip downunder to aus, make sure you don't leave Northern territory out, this is where the traditional aboriginals(native australians) live. thanks for taking the time to read this, and see you when I'm looking at you oneday. thanks heaps fay

Hi,Freddy I just wanted to leave a note to let you know that I've always really liked your music and I like your website. I met you and saw you around alot where I used to work,(HI/LO Auto Supply #45 4102 Crosstown Expwy.Corpus Christi, Texas. I worked there as a delivery driver from Mar. 1992 to Mar. 1993.)I'm sorry I never really got time to stop and say hi or anything, but I was usually doing my yo-yo impersonation on the days when you came in. (haha) I
guess someone had to make all those deliverys Liz and Carla just seemed to get slower when it would get really busy!??
Maybe it was just my imagination??
