Dear Mr. Fender,
We do a syndicated southern college sports talk radio station each Monday-Friday night from 5-8 p.m. central called "Southern Sports Tonight". We are heard on over 100 stations across the South.

We love you and your music and play it as our bumper music for our show. We talk about you and your music each night and have been huge fans for many years. We encourage folks to go out and buy your music if they really want to hear the heartbeat of country and folk music.

We also have been keeping our listeners updated on your health situation and wish you a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Maybe one day soon you will be well enough to come on our show for a live interview. It would be AWESOME!!! You can call us at 901-864-3132 and we will set it up.

Again, our best well-wishes and God bless you!

Dear Mr. Fender (or Freddy, if I may),
I was first introduced to country music in 1976 when I enjoyed "When the First Teardrop Falls". Later I met and married a Tejano and moved to Texas where I got to love the conjunto and Tex-Mex sound. Just listening to you or the Texas Tornados brings back fond memories of my husband who passed away last year. I already have tickets to your planned concert in Chandler May 11 2020. Best Wishes and may your health continue to improve. God Bless. Kathryn

Freddy,
I just heard today about your kidney transplant. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your daughter, and with your family and friends. My husband has had chronic Hep C for 42 years. (Doctors think it was passed on prenatally.) He just finished a year of interferon combination therapy. He had a horrible time with side effects and is glad that part is over for now. We don't know what the future holds, but we know that God is with us. He is with you, too, Freddy. Best wishes!

Freddy, first of all may god bless you and your family. I will be praying for you. my Lord.... i was reading in the paper that you were sick so i decided to see if you had a web site. i am so happy you do not realize the enjoyment your music brought to my family. my father first introduced me to your music in the 70's. i remember he would go to the stores and bring me home some 45's or your 8 tracks (yes.. we are talking long ago). and the crush i had on you oh my god... i knew when i grew up i was going to marry you or freddy prinze ( i'm turning red ). my father passed away a few years ago... god bless him. when we were cleaning out his tapes, and records guess what i found one of your 8 tracks (as a kid i played it so much i thought i burned the tape). but he still kept it. he knew i loved your music. i knew all your words to your songs. the other day i was driving and wasted days and wasted nights came on i was in tears it reminded me of my father.while other kids were listening to rock music i was at home listening and singing your music with my father. this is no joke but the one thing that i remember about my childhood was your music and wasting my fathers car battery listening to your 8 track. haha!!! may god bless you and your family. con mucho carino... gloria

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND CARRY YOU THROUGH THESE TOUGH TIMES AND ILLNESS. I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT YOUR DAUGHTER BLOOD AND TISSUE TYPE MATCHES AND THAT SHE IS GOING TO DONATE YOU ONE OF HER KIDNEYS. IT TAKES AN UNSELFISH SACRIFICE AND TOTAL CARE AND LOVE FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS FOR ANYBODY. YOU ARE A BLESSED PERSON TO HAVE A DAUGHTER AND FAMILY WILLING TO GIVE OF THEMSELVES TOTALLY FOR YOU. IT IS ALSO TRUE ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DONATE THEIR ORGANS AND TISSUES, BONE MARROW, AND EVEN BLOOD THAT SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE AT LIFE. I KNOW, BECAUSE I HAD A LIVER TRANSPLANT ON FEBRUARY 3RD AND 4TH, 1993 AT EMORY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA. DR. ANDREI C. STIEBER AND A TEAM OF TRANSPLANT SURGEONS OPERATED ON ME FOR 12 HOURS. MY DONOR WAS FROM A 21 YEAR OLD MALE WHO WAS LIVING IN MACON, GEORGIA AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. I HAVE LIVED 8 YEARS ALMOST 9 YEARS, SINCE MY LIVER TRANSPLANT AND HAVE HAD FEW PROBLEMS. NOW THE DOCTORS TELL ME I MAY NEED A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN THE NEAR FUTURE BECAUSE OF RENAL FAILURE AND BECAUSE OF THE KIDNEY DAMAGED THAT I SUSTAINED BEFORE THE LIVER TRANSPLANT AND THE IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT PROGRAF THAT I WAS ON AFTER THE TRANSPLANT HAS BEEN HARD ON MY KIDNEYS. NOW I HAVE ONLY 25% FUNCTION OF BOTH OF MY KIDNEYS LEFT AND THEY TELL ME I AM NOW A DIABETIC. I AM ON HUMALOG 75/25 MIX INSULIN SHOTS TWICE A DAY BEFORE BREAKFAST AND SUPPER AND I TAKE 12 PRESCRIPTION BOTTLES OF MEDICATIONS (MOSTLY HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATIONS). I ALSO HAVE PHLEBITIS IN THE LEFT LEG, BUT OTHER THAN THAT I AM DOING FINE AND I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE. I HOPE YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTER GET THROUGH THE TRANSPLANT OPERATION AND SURGERY WELL AND I HOPE YOU MAKE A COMPLETE RECOVERY AND WE ARE PRAYING THAT YOU GET A NEW LIVER ALSO REAL SOON. WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED HEARING YOU SING, ESPECIALLY WASTED DAYS, WASTED NIGHTS AND I'LL BE THERE BEFORE THE NEXT TEARDROP FALLS. IF WE CAN HELP YOU IN ANYWAY, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME AT (706) 692-2318 OR: DAVID PARKER AT 9 UPPER GRANDVIEW ROAD, JASPER, GEORGIA 30143. Freddy & Vangie: As parents we all feel our children are a gift from god. In your case you have been given an extra special gift. You are truly blessed. God does answer our prayers in his own time and in his own way. He never gives us more than we can handle although sometimes we wonder about his expectations. Just know that he is watching over you and your family. We want you also to know that all your loved ones, friends, fans and admirers will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for the speedy recovery of both you and your daughter. This is the Christmas you will remember most of all. Let the love of God embrace you and your family, find peace in knowing that all will be well. Feel the warmth of caring friends and bask in the knowledge that we wish you the very best. Freddy, we need you to get well, there are still songs to be sung, there are still lives for you to touch. There are still so many people who need to hear your sweet voice and find love and comfort and smiles that come from your amazing talents. I will be here with you in thought and prayer. All my love and best wishes to you and your family. Thank you for so many things you have given us all. We are all special friends.

Though a "city slicker" and not much of a country fan today, when younger, I was SO mesmerized by your voice there honestly have been times in recent years when I asked myself..."I wonder where Freddy Fender is?" As I now know, the world goes on without me!...and was fascinated looking at all your CD covers!....and though sorry to hear that you've not been wellthough very hopeful, with the news I read this morning) I'm, as I'm sure many others are, praying for a speedy recovery for you and many, mony more years of that mellow voice for all the world to hear and enjoy.
Good Luck...pray hard!...we will too! You'll do fine!

Hi, Freddy, Vangie.. and friends! I want to say, I have listened to Freddy's songs, for most of my life. I love his voice, and the incredible emotion he puts into his work. I am deeply saddened to hear, Freddy, that you are in ill health, and I hope you get what you need to get better. The world would be a smaller place, without you. I have a great favor to ask someone. I used to have a song by Freddy, called Te Esperare, or something to that effect. In my mind, this was the most wonderful song, full of beautiful music, and words. I lost all my music, regretfully, even my Freddy songs.. were stolen from me.. I really would like to know if someone has this song... I have found some of the same title, by other artists... but no sang it like the great Freddy Fender. I would greatly appreciate some help. Please email me. Thanks, and Freddy... here's hoping u feel better! Fondly, Donna

Before by husband, I had great times dancing at La Raza in Santa Barbara and the clubs in Oxnard. I cry when hear you too because I remember my hispanic mother who would dance around in our small kitchen to your music. Is there anyone who doesn't have memories of you? I was stunned to find out that Freddy is ill and needing a kidney. Then I looked further and found that he must have a liver first! Freddy, I hope and pray that you get what you need!
Some of my most fond memeories, were dancing to your music. Because of illness, I haven't danced in a year and missed it greatly. Dancing was a part of my soul. Without it I dried up inside a bit. The other day, I put Freddy in my music box and slowly started to sway, soon I was hitting those hard licks with some licks of my own. Thank You Freddy for inspiring me!
My favorite tunes are your's Freddy, may you go one to share your talents with us all for many, many years to come!
Love to you and your family!

Today I was enjoying searching the internet, and all of sudden Freddy Fender came to mind. I can remember dancing to the tunes of "Wasted Days and Waisted Nights" as a teen in San Antonio, Texas. Then later to hear the tunes of the Texas Tornadoes in the '90s. Reading his biography really made me reflect of my younger years. Now, I read in the questbook Freddy is not doing well, I pray for a perfect healing. It was meant for me to pray for you Freddy, I just thought of you out of the clear, it is of God's doing. Take care, do what the doctor orders, and pray for your own healing, as I will too. God Bless.

"Happy Thanksgiving" to you and yours. I hope this is one of your better days. I will remember you in my prayers of thanks, because I do thank you for all the wonderful music you have given us over the years. I also have a special thank you from my heart to yours. You are an inspiration to me, you see I am also diabetic and was not doing the things I should have been doing to take care of myself. I see you not letting your life slip by as you continue to perform and I think you are incredible. You have given me the courage to not feel sorry for myself. I now test myself daily and try to follow a diet & exercise program. I hope I have the strength and perseverence that you posess. You are a very special man. My love to you and your lovely wife Vangie and all your family on this wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Thank you Again. Barbara

I found this site when I tried to track down the lyrics to "Secret Love." My dad's birthday is later this month and I'm feeling pretty melancholy. See, he passed away last year and sometimes, I just really miss him. (I think it's hitting me harder this year than it did last year.)
So I play this song over and over again. Not only is a wonderful song beautifully sung, it also reminds me of my dad, who knew you and was proud of what you have accomplished. A tenuous connection, but it consoles me.

Buenas Freddy. Met you some years back through a friend name Steve Casanova with the Chicano Times. Still remember the day that you and Steve went to Texas A&I and attended as newspaper press staff a meeting with some students and university administrative staff to discuss a grievance for the groundskeepers for the university. Your music is great and I listen to it often. Still love to here Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.

Here I am again. I dont know why I find myself here as often as I do. I have this unusual connection to you and your family and although we have never met or talked on the phone, and probably never will, I feel I need to be here. I want you to know that the reason I am a special friend is because I can be there whenever you need me. Just close your eyes and I am there to talk to when you need someone to listen, I am there to bring a smile to your face when you are sad. I am a shoulder to cry on if you ever need me. I am a hand to hold when you are afraid. I am there to say a prayer for you, and I will be there when god answers in his own way. You are blessed in so many ways, a lovely wife, a beautiful family, friends and fans that love and adore you. You have a special gift that lets you into peoples lives. You make them feel things thru your music that is only possible with a gift like yours. You bring smiles, happiness and love to so many and I truly hope you will have the strength to continue, most of all you need to take care of you. Thank you for all you have given us. Let us give you something in return. You have our love and admiration. Stay strong and please do all to help yourself get well. Our prayers will take care of the rest. Vaya con Dios mi amigo.

Well, he did it again. We have just returned home from our trip to Laughlin to see the Singer of Songs, Mr. Freddy Fender. I once said: I would walk over Hot Coals to get a copy of HEY Well I have it in my hot CD machine and have played both versions about 10 times in the last 45 minutes.(not sure of the time) Let me tell you this: I saw the old Gleam in his eyes as he connected with his audience. I cried 3 times. But not to worry, they were tears of joy. The house was full with adoring fans and let him know that he is so loved by all of us. I'm so sorry for those of you that would have liked to have been there but just couldn't make it. I truly think it was one of his very best shows. Each and every member of the group gave a perfect performance. And we love them too. He remains in our thoughts and prayers as well as the members of his family. If you do not have HEY please add it to your collection. I know they don't like sales pitches but I am only pitching wonderful music. I know you'll love it as much as we do. So Please, Dear Friends and Fans, Take good care of yourselves. We want to keep you around and have your prayers added to ours for the Fender Family. A suitable donor just has to be found and all will be well again in our hearts and minds. Until we meet again on the road of Wonderful Music, we remain devoted fans and send this with love to each and every one of you folks out there.
Love, The Dudes

Rene of Santa Anna, Ca. Guess we'll see you there. We have been waiting about 2 months or so for this SPECIAL date to arrive. I constantly pray for Freddy and his family. I do believe all the prayers being said for him and his loved ones, is helping and keeping him going along with the miracles of modern medicine. The Dudes would be more than willing to be donors but medical authorities have said NO. That's why we pray so often and so long for a miracle to come down from above with a name attached to a person here on earth that will be a suitable donor. So please join us in our prayers for the Huerta Family. For those of us lucky enough to be able to go to Laughlin, We'll see you there and let's all give him one of the biggest welcomes he'll every have. Love and God Bless America and all who live within her borders. And extra prayers for those who don't live in this wonderful land.

Vangie, How are you doing? I haven't written in a
while, and since you're loaded with daily inquiries
about Freddy's health you didn't need me cluttering
things up. I try keeping a check on his web site.
First of all--How is Freddy doing?
I hope he's much better. Well, of course he is,
because he's got you there to take care of him.!!!
Vangie, I'm just a big softie when it comes to
illness and when you told me about Freddy's dialysis,
I cried. I cried because your hero's don't get ill.
They're immune to the problems that we have.
The sad tears that fell were from the same eyes that
cried happy tears when my estranged wife and I would
dance our "Dating" night's away listening to songs
like "Before the next tear drop falls".
I'll never forget it, just when I would get things
under control, she would look up thought those big
brown teary eyes and whisper "You're my Freddy Fender"
and it would all start again.

Vangie, please thank Freddy for the great memories
that he has given my wife and I. Those were beautiful
day's and nights and surely weren't wasted.
I got her back.
We've never been happier.

Thank you Vangie and here's to Freddy. "Get well
soon,Amigo".

Hi Freddy and gang! My name is Becky and I am 29 years old. I have been a fan of yours since I was a very small child. I think the first time I heard your music I was about 8 or 9 years old. I would like to meet you in person because I have always wanted to meet you in person, you seem like a very nice person. If you ever need anyone to talk to you can e-mail me at hornerbecky@aol.com I am a good person to talk to because I am a good listener and I am very mature for my age. I am very understanding when my friends have problems that always go to my house to talk to me because they know that I will try to give them the best advice that I can give them. Well, this is all for now. Like I said if you are in need to talk to someone you can e-mail me and I will answer you as soon as I can. BYE-BYE! Your friend and fan BECKY in El Paso, TX

Mr. Fender,
I gotta tell you about tonight. Gone to some dumpy little bar outside of town. Fell in love the minute I got there with a waitress. Don't really know how to explain it but it just kind of happened. I knew things were going well for me but then it happened. There was a karaoke thing happening and I was getting bombarded by people singing stuff I'd never heard of. So I looked through the catalog and found it....Wasted Days and Wasted Nights. I did my pitiful rendition of the song and much to my delight found her right by my side singing it with me.

I'm gonna marry this woman. Now if I could only remember her name. We're gonna be at Lake Charles in November for the show. God, I love you man. YOU ARE MY HERO!

I awoke today feeling blue for no reason. I put on some music because that always lifts my spirits. I listened to some of your live performances and was immediately consumed by the music and the fun you seem to have entertaining. How blessed we are to have you in our lives. Not only your music but you as a person have touched so many of us in ways you will never know. I hope this day finds you feeling better. Please take care of yourself, do what the doctors say. I know it is tough sometimes to face another day not feeling well. I wish I could help take that feeling away and let you enjoy everything around you. I hope you still get out to ride your Harley. Just take it easy. I did so want to catch one of your shows this year, but it doesn't look like that is likely to happen. Just know that you are always in my prayers. Thank you Freddy for just being you.

I still keep you in my prayers as do all your friends and fans. All of us praying for your renewed health has to be deafening on Gods ears. I am sure he will get tired of hearing us and make you well so we will stop bothering him. Just kidding. I do know that he does hear our prayers but we are all in his hands and he does know best. I just read the comments from a Special Friend, Anywhere, USA. I know how she/he feels. I check this site so many times, I have lost count. I just keep counting the days and saying thank you to the MAN above, for allowing us to keep enjoying the music of Freddy Fender and his group/band. It's hard not knowing how he is and if any progress is being made in connection with his health. Most of us keep health conditions to ourselves, private, and yet we expect everything from the so called "Rich and Famous". Keep your fingers crossed and maybe the next time we check into this site, we'll read some GOOD NEWS. So until the next time, Love and Prayers to the Fender Family and all of their fans.

Good morning Freddy, We went to dinner last night with some friends. Through the hustle and bustle of the restaurant I heard you singing Secret Love. It took my breath away, I had forgotten how wonderful your beautiful voice was. You are truly a gift from God. I pray with all my might that you will be well soon. You have given so much to so many people. It is our turn to give back to you. Our prayers are with you. Know we love you, and think of you often. Take care of yourself. P.S. Vangie watch over our Freddy he is so lucky to have you there for him. Know we are there for you if you ever need us. Just reach out to those who love Freddy as much as you.

I just purchased a rockola jukebox. The first album that I put on was "Freddy Fender's reatest Hits. It is in the number one spot on the JukeBox and is the most played by everyone who comes into my home. It's not just the memories of the times of the original songs but the true enjoyment of listening. My wife and I met you one time when you were singing with a group in a lounge in northern Florida, probably 10 years ago. I got your autograph on a black and white picture of you. I have lived half my life in Mexico. I moved to El Paso Texas and finally to Jacksonville, Florida where I live with my wife Carmen, who is a native of Guadalajara Mexico. Our friends own a Mexican dance hall here in Jacksonville and I would love to talk to your agent to see if we can book a performance here in Jacksonville.

Dear Mr. Fender,
I happened upon your website after trying to find information on the upcoming CA mid-state fair. I had no idea that you had been ill. I truly hope you begin to feel better quickly. My father has enjoyed your music for years, and I have the fondest memories of riding in his pick-up truck when I was a little girl while we sang along to your 8 track. Anytime I hear your music it brings me back to my dad who lives in Texas while I live here in California. I am 26 years old and my children will one day hear your music. Best wishes to you and your family.

Hello everyone
I know that it is not normal for someone to post a message about Another artist on this sight but we could really use your help.
It is concerns Miss Jo Dee Messina.
Jo Dee, if you dont already know, has 3 albums out. her self-entitled album, the I'm Alright album, and the Burn album. the Burn album came out last August and i'm sure jo dee is gettin ready to start lookin for material for her 4 album. at her concerts, jo dee sings a very inspiring song that she wrote called Hero. she's tried very hard to get this song on an album but has been unsuccessful. Curb tells her that it wont sell...blah blah blah. anyways, she really wants this song on her album, so we've decided to help her out. Laura has started a petition, and has created a website where anyone can go and sign. this petition will be sent to Curb in the hopes of seeing the song Hero on her next album. so anyone and everyone, please PLEASE go and sign the petition. the site is www.helpingjodee.4ever.cc please go and sign. we need all the help we can get.

also for those of you who are curious~ this is the chorus of the song written by Jo Dee called Hero:

"I see your heart is hurtin and its more then I can bare. I wish I could reach inside and take your pain away, but this you've got to do alone. All I can do is let you know you're my hero. I look at you and see everything I wish I could be. If only you could see it through my eyes- you would understand just why- you're my hero."

and i want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for those who sign this petition.

Thanks sooooooo much

sherri

I know life is never all peaches and cream and that you have had rough times, especially now with your health. We should never dwell on what could have been or what was. We cant change the past and we cant predict the future. Know that the heavenly father will watch out for you. Stay strong and fight hard. We are not ready to let you go. So take care of yourself. Freddie,
Recently, my mom found out that you were coming to perform here in New Mexico and she was so happy! She has loved and listened to your music for as far back as i can remember. She is one of your biggest fans. My sister and I are gonna take her to your concert for a late mother's day present and make one of her biggest wishes come true. Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for putting a smile on my moms face with your music...

Freddy,Was wondering if you remember the gigs in new england my band, northstar backed you up for which included some fairs in connnecticut and Massachusetts? My name is Danny Snow and was the drummer. We really enjoyed doing these shows. The promoter that hired us to back you up for some shows was John Penny Enterprises and for others was K.C. productions.Would love to speak with you about possibly doing this again.By you sending me a cassette instructing us what you wanted from my band musically back then made it very easy for us to give you the musical backup you wanted.I'd love to be given the opportunity to do this again either as a drummer or as an entire band.

Please cntact me,if for no other reason but to let me know you received this email. Thanks, sincerly yours,Danny Snow

To someone who brought tex-mex to the world with open doors.
The songs you have kindly sang to us while growing up brought a since of happiness with alittle spice in our love life's. I can remember as a little child my tia singing your
words to us. By the age of six i could sing all of your song in english and spanish. We would gather all the neighbor kids and pretend we were you and your group. I am older and still listen to your cassettes. Get well, people want to hear from you again. Singing is good for the soul, the heart and our love for the music. Please come back to us. Take good care of yourself. We care!
