Freddy Fender was a staple in my music collection throughout my entire life. I remember listening to him at the age of 5 or 6 with my Mom and Dad and now I am 37 and still listen to Freddy! He will be missed! What a wonderful human being..............

Freddy's music was loved by millions, including me.
I never met Freddy but I played around the Harlingen-Brownsville-McAllen-Corpus area for a couple of years and met a lot of musicians who knew him.
RIP, Freddy, your music lives on.

We owe it to this man and his generation for shaping our music, tejano music, and may we continue to let the strings, drums, and rippings of the accordion ignite our nights. Whether we are at the club or in our backyards, keep it up. No one is ever really gone. He's either riding shotgun or hogging the stool next to you at the dancefloor. !AJUA!

I was born in San Benito to parents who were close friends of yours. I have pictures of you sitting in our living room playing the guitar and singing to me as I looked up to you with admiration as a very little girl.
I will treasure the many stories I have been told of you by my parents.
I have taught my children about you over the years and they have grown to love your music and even wrote reports on you during Hispanic Heritage, and proudly showed their classmates the picture of Freddy Fender with their mommy as a little girl
My daddy will be at your service, as he is still in Texas, but unfortunately I am far away and can not attend.
Thank you for the memories and for leaving your mark and setting a prescedent for the Mexican-American community.
