Even bought the top latin album, La Musica by Baldemar Huerta---Love it and I don't speak Spanich, lol. Only comment I have, is I have always loved Freddy's voice and would have liked to hear sooooooo much more. Funny, I have a brother that always reminds me of Freddy's looks. Freddy has a voice that is so different and gets to your heart. He has the voice that you would like to reach out and "touch" some one in the sence of just talking to him.

Freddy Fender is one of my all time favorites and I take every opportunity I have to see him in concert. Whether he is performing alone or with the Texas Tornadoes, I am never disappointed. I had a chance to speak with him at his engagement at the Hop in Industry a few years back and I really enjoyed the fact that he took the time to speak directly with his fans. I just saw him again on Sunday at the Summerfest in Brea and was very overwhelmed with emotion as I realize how terribly rough this last year has been for him in regards to his health. I just watched you on the ALMA awards, and the comment.."we`re just migrant workers in fancy shirts" really took me back ... to a time in the 70`s when I too was a migrant worker or "fruit tramp" as we were called... we were in a small town in Michigan and every night ; when work was done and the little ones in bed, I would fall asleep to the unmistakeable sound of FREDDIE FENDER drifting softly thru the thin walls of the tiny cabins.. sometimes the music would be simultaneous; vaya con dios, coming thru on one side.. wasted days and wasted nights coming in on the other... You were not just a Mexican; or Latino. you were US! We identified with you thru your songs;
You got us thru some rough times back then; and though now.. Life is much easier.. we no longer are migrant workers..BUT.. we are not ashamed of our past There were many precious and happy times..It was a time of learning.. who we were.. who we wanted to be..who our heroes were..You helped in that learning and I can honestly say you changed this poor white girl`s opinion of the Mexican people and culture.
Most folk are afraid of the unknown or unfamiliar...
You thru your music and song gave us insight into your people and we realized "hey they are just like us.. they laugh; cry; fall in love; get cheated on; get hurt;stand by those they love; they get tired; sick of working; sick of life; they are us; we are them..

I was wondering if you remember the gigs we did together the mid eighties up in Rhode Island and in Massachusetts. I thought it was such a great idea when you sent me a cassette of what you wanted my band to play behind you behind you on your songs. It sure made our rehearsals a lot easier and I was very happy with the way the shows came off. I'm still playing out professionaly as a drummer though I now live in Florida. I've always been a fan of yours and listen to my CDs/LPs quite often but it was a big surprise to find out my mother is a fan, too. My mother lives in Wisc and 'snowbirds' in Mercedes. She just got her first CD player (she's never even owned a turntable) and when I took her shopping for CDs, the first one she bought was one of yours!
