Only comment I have, is I have always loved Freddy's voice and would have liked to hear sooooooo much more. Funny, I have a brother that always reminds me of Freddy's looks. Freddy has a voice that is so different and gets to your heart. He has the voice that you would like to reach out and "touch" some one in the sence of just talking to him.

Dear Freddy:
My dad served in the Merchant Marines with you years ago (alot of time spent in the brig). I would like to get the two of you together again before he passes on. We have pictures of you and him standing by a tank. He told me of a password to use if I ever got to see you in concert but I'm not sure if it is the right one or not so I will keep it to myself for now. My dad's name is Henry T. Oliver, Hank, or Okie Henry. We listen to your song "I Love my Rancho Grande". The guy hollerin in the background sounds like my dad's big voice. Hope to see you soon. Sincerely, your number one fan always, Phillip.

Dear Freddy,
I would like to thank you for the music you performed and recorded, and to thank God that I was able to have those records in the late 70's in a communist country! You cannot imagine what Western tunes meant in those days for the youngsters behind the iron courtain!Being a good dancer and a romantic soul, your song "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" as well as Elvis Presley's " Lay Your Head Upon My Pillow "
were among my favourites.
Now I would like to ask you something totally different than the other guests in this guestbook :
Take care of yourself and your daughter and give up efforts
due to concerts and shows. You have done enough for this world and at least some of us will continue to love you for making it better and worth living in it.There are so few who
do that and they ought to be cherished for what they already had done. My father has been ill of C virus hepatitis for 20 years now due to a blood transfusion, and I saw how his stenght was melting down each year.I give him a telephone call each day and I am happy he is still at the other end of the line. That's why I pray for you to be strong enough to give up and live for your beloved ones who already proved their love for you in a very costly way. Make your days a gift for them! Your tunes are already a huge gift for us the rest . God bless you,
Mircea

Best wishes on your recovery from surgery from a 100+ degree fan (hot out here). I am imagining a large stage that includes you as Baldemar or as a Texas T. or both, Lalo Guerrero, Doctor Loco, someone who sings like las hermanas Mendoza, maybe Flaco's boys, Los Pingüinos. Incredible tour, no? Best of all, I'm imagining being there. Seems we could use some going back to the roots these days, as a country. A few years ago you did a free concert here in Phoenix on New Year's Eve. We're on the map now. Next year? Thanks. ¡Que viva Baldemar! ¡Que viva la música!

Hi Freddy, what an amazing day this was. I got to hear you on the radio while I was at work. Each time I listen to you sing it is like angels singing in my heart. I never in my life heard someone take a song and make each note sound as if it were caressed with love and sent back to the listener like a child who was nurtured and sent out into the world to have a special affect on everyone it comes it contact with. What a wonderful gift you have. A unique and very special talent to be able to write and sing and entertain was cast upon you. Thank you for sharing this gift with us. I hope your health is improving with each day that passes. I am glad to here that you are appearing again. Please take it slow don't overdo. We want you around for a good long time. I know that is selfish but that's just how it is. All my love to you and your family. May God watch over you and keep you safe for us. We love you Freddy. Vaya con Dios mi Amigo.

Hello Mr Fender,
I was told that you have 3 more new cd's that you are selling, other then the ones shown on your merchandise website, I heard one called Freddy Fender Sings Country, that is the best cd I have ever heard from anyone, also you have a Freddy Fender Walk Of Fame pin and a magazine with your pictures threw out it, need to get them. I heard you were on the Alma Awards, is there a video available? All I can say is every singer trys to out sing you, but that is impossible for them do do. They need to face the truth, your are the king, you are the best, you have love in your heart for fans. Freddy stay well...your fan Marco

Hi Freddy! U R Simply superb. I heard 'Before the next tear drop falls' 8 years back when I was around 19 or 20. It was your song that made me listen to foreign music especially Latin and English. Being an Indian I used to think that we have so much in our own music that there is no need to wander here and there. Your music made me open to every kind of music. Today, I love listening to Rock, Blues and country. Your complete collection was not available in India earlier, but now it is very much there. Your music is a magic, carry on. Good Wishes.

I think I just lost a bet after reading Freddie's biography.
I bet he lived near Humble, Tx, Porter, Tx, or that general
area. The bet was of course for millions of dollars so if
there's any chance you could lie and pull my bacon out of
the fire on this I would be appreciative.

BTW: There's a guy named RAM here who sings Freddie's songs
in Karaoyke and sounds very much like him.

My dearest Freddy, I havn't written in awhile. I am glad to see you are up and about, performing again for all your fans. However, I see a problem, you are not posting your schedule so how will those fans who have waited for your return know where you will be. They are waiting to see you and support you. Don't let them down Freddy, they were there for you in prayer when you needed them. I am sure that you are still in their prayers. We should never take for granted what we have. It can be lost in a heartbeat. Please don't take your fans for granted. They need you as much as you need them. You are always in my prayers and in my heart. No one can take away the memories you have given me over the years. It was a thrill for me to see you on TV and have you get an award that you so richly deserved. The fact that you took the time to mention your wonderful daughter shows how much you care and love your family. I only wish you had sung a song from your Grammy winning CD. Hearing you sing in spanish is always a delight. Only you can make every song sound like an angels choir. Take good care of yourself. Please don't over do. We love you and hope to enjoy your music for a long time to come. Vaya con Dios mi Amigo.

Freddy Fender is one of my all time favorites and I take every opportunity I have to see him in concert. Whether he is performing alone or with the Texas Tornadoes, I am never disappointed. I had a chance to speak with him at his engagement at the Hop in Industry a few years back and I really enjoyed the fact that he took the time to speak directly with his fans. I just saw him again on Sunday at the Summerfest in Brea and was very overwhelmed with emotion as I realize how terribly rough this last year has been for him in regards to his health. I am glad that God has spared your life for many more years so that you can continue your great contribution to the Tex-Mex music lovers. God Bless you and yours....

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

I've been listening to you since I was about 13 years old back in 1975, you were my Dad's favorite. He died 25 years ago. He would listen to your album over and over every night, especially on the weekends. Your songs just send chills through me and my family especially my mother. We seen you in concert at the Alameda County Fair and you were great. I had to stay for both shows. I would love to get a copy of the 2002 Alma Awards just because of the great salute that you received. Hi Freddy;
I just watched you on the ALMA awards, and the comment.."we`re just migrant workers in fancy shirts" really took me back ... to a time in the 70`s when I too was a migrant worker or "fruit tramp" as we were called... we were in a small town in Michigan and every night ; when work was done and the little ones in bed, I would fall asleep to the unmistakeable sound of FREDDIE FENDER drifting softly thru the thin walls of the tiny cabins.. sometimes the music would be simultaneous; vaya con dios, coming thru on one side.. wasted days and wasted nights coming in on the other... You were not just a Mexican; or Latino. you were US! We identified with you thru your songs;
You got us thru some rough times back then; and though now.. Life is much easier.. we no longer are migrant workers..BUT.. we are not ashamed of our past There were many precious and happy times..It was a time of learning.. who we were.. who we wanted to be..who our heroes were..You helped in that learning and I can honestly say you changed this poor white girl`s opinion of the Mexican people and culture.
Most folk are afraid of the unknown or unfamiliar...
You thru your music and song gave us insight into your people and we realized "hey they are just like us.. they laugh; cry; fall in love; get cheated on; get hurt;stand by those they love; they get tired; sick of working; sick of life; they are us; we are them..
After having said all that... I would like to just say THANK YOU.... YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS

Sarah

Congratulations to Freddy for his great performance at the ALMA Awards! He looked great!

I still treasure the times I have seen Freddy perform, including his memorable performance in 1998 when Freddy, Flaco Jimenez, Doug Sahm, and Augie Meyers (aka The Texas Tornados) cut their "Live From The Limo" CD at Antone's Austin, Texas.

Check out pictures I took of this memorable performance at

Continue to get strong Freddy!

Dear Freddy:

This is the first time that I have visited your guestbook and think it is wonderful to see how many people love and admire you. I to think your music is beautiful and listen to your cd's over and over again. I have never had the chance to see you in person but my friend George Ayala has seen you and said that you were awesome and one of his all time favorites. I am from Oregon and was not really around Mexican music. I now live in central California and have come familiar with all sorts of music. My mom although has loved you for years and would like to see you one day. I hear that you will be in California this month (May 2002) at Eagle Mountain Casino. Is this true? If so, my mom is here from Oregon and I would love to bring her to your show. If someone could e-mail me with that information I would greatly appreicate it.

I'm hoping everything is good for you with your recent transplant and your daughter also. You both will be in my prayers.

Hoping to hear from you..........a BIG FAN

Dear Freddy:

I hope you and your daughter have now fully recovered.
You have always been my inspiration. I did record a minor hit in 1980 in Texas entitled "Lonely Nights Without You".

I met you years ago when I had just started recording in Weslaco, Texas.

May God Bless.

I am concerned for your well-being. It has only been 45 days since your surgery and I
know 90 days was supposed to be your recuperation time. You need to rest to allow your body to mend.
My ladies' tap class does a tap dance to Hey Baby Que Paso? It is so good!

I am glad to hear that you surgery was a success. I hope that you to see you soon back on that stage. You may not remember me as Doug Wilson, but I know you would remember me as Elvis. In 1995 I was performing as Elvis for Harley day on rodeo drive in Beverly Hills, California. You was so down to earth and pleasant to be around. You made my time there rememberable, thanks for everything. If there is anything you need or anything I can do just e-mail me at DWilsonTCB1@aol.com. I first heard of Freddy Fender when my uncle in the 1970s kept playing his songs at parties and from then on my entire family are loyal Freddy Fender fans. Freddy has contributed so much for the music industry worldwide. It doesn't matter that the music industry changes because the oldies are always the best!!!! Freddy we play your music all the time and you are the best!!!! I read that you won the best latin pop last year. This just goes to show that you are one in a million.

Hi Freddy,

I thoroughly enjoy your music and wish you the best
of health, happiness and success. I respect the vastly
different styles of music you have covered, and I really
like the work you have done with the Texas Tornadoes,
especially the new versions of your classic hits. I enjoy
the versus alternating back and forth between Spanish and
English, and hearing instruments like a saxophone in
country music. You have expanded the boundries of
country and Tex-Mex, and written & performed some
excellent songs. I hope you record with the Tornadoes
again soon. Your God given voice is the greatest!!

Take care,

Wonderful that the recent operation came off well, may both you and your incredibly brave daughter soon be back to full strength.

And wow a new Grammy!

I have seen Freddy perform at least twice (maybe more, but who knows :-) ), both times with the late great Doug Sahm. In fact, I have a few photos posted from a December 1998 Antone's "Live From The Limo" CD cutting session by Freddy, Doug, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers and other greats at http://home.att.net/~tunefan/freddy_fender.htm

It was a great performance, and Freddy was as nice and gracious as could be.

Continue getting stronger Freddy, and when able your fans await more great music!

Dear Freddy,

Thank you for releasing your beautiful new disc "La Musica de Baldemar Huerta". Since your amazing contributions to the original "Los Super Seven" project, I have prayed that you would record a solo album of Mexican standards. This album redefines excellence, sailing way beyond beautiful. PLEASE consider filming for DVD release, a live intimate concert performance of this album for prosperity and as the definitive gift to your adoring fans. I wish to God that I could be the director of such a concert presentation. I would film such a concert as an EVENT of the highest order and with the same lush simplicity of the original disc recording. You are truly an amazing artist of whom I have tremendous respect for. Once you feel better, I certainly hope you will consider going on the road to promote "La Musica de Baldemar Huerta". Thanks again for releasing this incredible album. Take good care of yourself. You are loved beyond words.

Hi Freddy,So glad to hear everything went well for both you and your daughter throughout your recent operations. I wish you continued success and good health as we all know you've earned it. I was wondering if you remember the gigs we did together the mid eighties up in Rhode Island and in Massachusetts. I thought it was such a great idea when you sent me a cassette of what you wanted my band to play behind you behind you on your songs. It sure made our rehearsals a lot easier and I was very happy with the way the shows came off. I'm still playing out professionaly as a drummer though I now live in Florida. I must admit I sure do miss the road and I'm sure I will be back out there as soon as the right opportunity comes up. If your going to be performing any time in the future anywhere near orlando or Palm Beach let me know o.k. I would enjoy to seeing you agin. Well so long for now , your friend ,Danny Snow

But, no, no, no I have to go (at least before the next teardrop falls ;) see ya)

Hello all fans!
Me and madammen was having some great years together with Baldemar at Melbu school and later at Samos.
I am happy to hear that his surgery was successful, and I hope we can visit him as soon as possible. The last days before the surgery was very difficult for us too, but all our thoughts go to his family and closest friends.
I wish him all the best in the future, and hope that Baldemar can produce another album at the same level as "before the next teardrop falls"

I am praying for you Freddy for a complete recovery from your kidney surgery. And that your daughter also remain healthy since donating her kidney. I have loved your music since seeing you as a child at Ponderosa Park in Salem Ohio back in the 60's. My mother, Helen loves "When The Last Tear Drop Falls". That is her favorite - and mine too. Remember that we, your fans love you and I pray that Jesus watch over you and your family always and keep you safe. God Bless! Love, Sherry

She just got her first CD player (she's never even owned a turntable) and when I took her shopping for CDs, the first one she bought was one of yours! Dear Freddy,

My name is Bill Hoover and my brother, Clayton, and I are the executive producers with Michael/Ronnie Morales on your new CD, La Musica de Baldemar Huerta. We are both from Corpus. In fact, I was in summer school with your son, Sonny at Ray HS. Clayton still lives in Corpus, he's an oil and gas lawyer.

We all hope you are doing well and can make it to the Grammys to find out if your record won. You have such a great story, I'm honored to be part of it.

I think the first time I saw you was in about 1974 at the Rogues Club on Alameda. I was 16 and we lied to get in.
I still remember, we walked in and you were singing Before the Next Teardrop Falls. Helping out with the record is a big thrill.

I hope to get to meet you soon. I'll write again after the Grammy's.

Well Freddy, it has been 19 days since your surgery, wow how time does fly. I hope this day finds you recuperating and enjoying your new lease on life. It gives me a renewed faith in God, because it seems that the power of prayer might have made a difference. I am glad that both you and your daughter are doing well. What a wonderful bond of love you must have. One can only imagine the deep love she has for you,and you for her. Be sure you do everything your doctor tells you to do. If and when you are ready to come back to your fans we will be waiting for you with open arms. Remember I told you this is your year. There are still songs to be sung and smiles to be shared. If you choose to share your wonderful gift with the world, you will again touch the hearts of so many people who need to hear the sweetness of your angel voice. I look forward to the Grammys and hope that you will have that prestigous award to accept, you deserve it and so much more. All my best wishes and prayers are with you always. Be well and happy. God Bless you Freddy and your daughter. I have worked with renal patients for many years in my position at Nephrology Associates of Toledo and know that you have come along a very hard road thus far. Congratulations on your successful surgery. Your nephrologist and surgeon must be very pleased. I am a long time fan and adore your music. I know you will win that Best Latin Album Grammy award and I will be tuned in to watch you collect your prize. Always take your immunosuppression drugs and follow your doctor's advice (I guess I really don't need to tell you that but I have seen the results of poor compliance in many transplant patients). Best regards to your family and special thanks and prayers to your daughter for her precious donation and for allowing your voice to be heard for many, many years to come. Dear Freddy, just wanted to let you know that there is a prayer being said for you and your daughter. There is always a special bond between parents and children I can only imagine the bond that you and your daughter share. How wonderful to be given such a gift twice in one lifetime. First when she was born and now when she is unselfishly sharing a part of herself with you. May god bless you both and watch over you. May he keep you safe from harm as you undergo your surgery. You will be in my thoughts & prayers throughout the day. I will be waiting to hear the good news that all went well and both you and your daughter are on the way to a speedy recovery. God bless you Freddy. God Bless the Huerta Family. Stay strong and fight hard.

Hi Freddie,
I sent Mark Tate a e-mail and he told me about your Web site. I'm sorry to hear you have to go though a kidney transplant but knowing you, you will come out with flying colors. You looked so good when we seen you at Hansom Dam. Freddy where did the time go. Do you remember when we were in the service and you used to ask me (Leonard do you think the people in L.A. will listen to me. I told you they would. I sure wish we could turn the clock back and go back to those good old days. Well good luck on your surgery and hope to see you soon.

Mr. Fender, you hold a part of my childhood with your songs. My name is Eric Chuang and I'm about to turn 28. I spent the first 25 years of my life in Texas, mostly in Houston. I remember one of the few songs when I was growing up was of course your "Wasted Days & Wasted Nights". I had a old beat up cassette tape/radio (the cassette tape was broken) and would listen to country music at night. Many nights I heard your song, Marty Robbins, Dan Seals, just a how munch of fellows that made good music. Tonight I happen to be at a friend's house when a commerical came on of coutnry hits. Once I heard your song, it sure took me back to when I was 7 living in west Houston with my folks and sister. After I got home I found your website here - congrats on the Grammy nomination and hope your surgery goes well. Thank you.
